Islamabad, February 25, 2026: Pakistani nationals travelling to the United Kingdom, including tourists, business visitors and those visiting family, can now use a new eVisa system that replaces physical visa stickers with digital confirmation sent by email.

Under the updated process, applicants will continue to submit their visa applications online and attend a visa application centre to provide biometric information. However, successful applicants will now receive a digital record of their immigration status through an online UK Visas and Immigration account, eliminating the need for a second visit to collect their passport.

With the introduction of eVisas, applicants can keep their passports after completing biometrics. The digital visa is considered more secure and reduces the risk of lost or damaged documents. Visa holders can also generate a share code to prove their immigration status at borders and other required points.

Authorities clarified that there is no change to visa processing times, eligibility criteria or visa conditions. Existing sticker visas will remain valid and unaffected by the new system.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott said the move would significantly simplify travel for Pakistanis.

“This is a hugely exciting step for Pakistanis visiting the UK for tourism, visiting loved ones, or business meetings, that removes a big step from the application process,” she said. “Being able to keep your passport and use the new share code system makes it easier than ever to demonstrate your visa status.”

Applicants have been strongly advised to avoid visa agents and apply directly through official UK government channels, which remain the only trusted source of information.

The eVisa system was previously rolled out for students and work visa holders, with thousands of people worldwide already using it successfully at UK airports. Further guidance on the new system is available on the UK government website.
