Rawalpindi, March 23, 2026: The Armed Forces of Pakistan on Monday reiterated their unwavering commitment to defending national sovereignty, combating terrorism, and maintaining internal security, emphasizing their resolve to eradicate all threats to the country.

Pakistan Day, observed annually on March 23, marks the passing of the Lahore Resolution, when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate nation for Muslims of the British Indian Empire.

In a statement on the 86th anniversary of Pakistan Day, the Inter-Services Public Relations said the country continues to face the challenges of terrorism and extremism. It added that the armed forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies and citizens, remain steadfast in securing the nation.

The statement reaffirmed the military’s dedication to defending Pakistan’s frontiers, safeguarding sovereignty, and maintaining internal stability against all forms of aggression and terrorism.

Extending congratulations to the nation, Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu praised the resilience and spirit of the people.

The statement described March 23, 1940, as a defining moment that laid the foundation for an independent homeland, reflecting the collective vision and determination of the Muslims of the subcontinent.

It highlighted Pakistan’s continued progress under democratic principles and resilience, with a focus on strengthening state institutions and ensuring citizens’ welfare. The ISPR also emphasized Pakistan’s role as a responsible member of the international community, advocating for peace, stability, and cooperation globally.

The statement came amid recent military actions, including responses to the Afghan Taliban’s attacks, resulting in the elimination of over 700 Taliban and banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan operatives and the destruction of key Afghan infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Pakistan government announced a temporary pause in the ongoing Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq in view of the Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that the pause, requested by brotherly Islamic nations including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, will be effective from midnight of March 18/19 to midnight of March 23/24, 2026. He described the gesture as a demonstration of goodwill in line with Islamic principles.

The armed forces emphasized that, united in purpose, Pakistan continues its journey toward long-term stability, security, and prosperity.
