Murree/Rawalpindi, March 24, 2026: The “Queen of the Hills,” Murree, hosted a massive influx of tourists during the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr, with 74,196 vehicles and approximately 375,000 visitors entering the district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, stated that due to foolproof security and optimized traffic management, no incidents of tourists being stranded or prolonged traffic congestion were reported despite the heavy volume.

According to DPO Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, a total of 15,728 vehicles stayed within Murree city limits over the three days, while 17,582 stayed within the broader district; the remaining traffic proceeded toward Galiat and surrounding areas. On the third day of Eid, a significant surge in urban movement was observed with 29,588 entries and 26,964 exits, leaving a net stay of 8,659 vehicles inside the city. Notably, the total vehicle inflow decreased by approximately 48.8% compared to last year, reflecting a more regulated and controlled arrival pattern.

Providing a day-wise breakdown, the DPO shared that on the second day, 27,099 vehicles entered the district while 19,734 exited, with 5,429 vehicles staying within the city. On the first day, 17,716 vehicles entered and 10,038 exited, with 1,640 vehicles remaining in the urban area.

Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer emphasized that the entire Murree Police and traffic personnel remained on high alert. Strict monitoring at toll plazas and continuous patrolling by field officers ensured disciplined traffic flow. To maintain order, 376 challans were issued on the second day and 506 on the third day in response to increased urban pressure.

The DPO further highlighted that dedicated anti-harassment teams and facilitation units were deployed at Mall Road and major tourist spots to ensure the safety of families and female tourists. The overall situation across the district remained peaceful, controlled, and incident-free, credited to proactive deployment and effective coordination.
