Lahore, April 16, 2026: Yasin Joyia, Honorary Consul General of Sri Lanka in Punjab, called on Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Governor of Punjab, in a productive and meaningful meeting held in Lahore on Thursday.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse, particularly among university students. Both sides discussed comprehensive prevention and awareness strategies aimed at fostering a healthier academic environment across the province.

Mr. Yasin Joyia attended the meeting in his capacity as Patron-in-Chief of the Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH). Other participants included Syed Zulifiqar Husain Shah, Chairman DATH; Syed Mohsin, Vice Chairman DATH; Agha Nayyer, Executive Committee Member; Adeel, Secretary General; Manzoor Ahmad, Executive Committee Member; Zulqurnain, Executive Committee Member; and Shamraiz Shahid, Staff Officer to the Honorary Consul General Punjab.

During the discussions, various initiatives, training programmes, and collaborative efforts were explored to curb drug use in educational institutions. The proposals emphasized awareness campaigns, capacity-building workshops, and partnerships with stakeholders to combat substance abuse effectively.

Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan appreciated the efforts of DATH and underscored the importance of preventive education and coordinated action to safeguard the youth from the dangers of narcotics.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to promoting public health, strengthening institutional collaboration, and advancing impactful partnerships for a drug-free academic environment.
