Istanbul, April 18, 2026: Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with his Turkish counterpart Numan Kurtulmuş on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul.

At the outset, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq congratulated the government and people of Türkiye on successfully hosting the global parliamentary gathering, appreciating the country’s hospitality and the active participation of legislators from around the world. He highlighted the importance of such forums in fostering dialogue, strengthening democratic values, and promoting international cooperation.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and key issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that conflicts cannot be resolved through war and underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating negotiations and bringing parties closer to peaceful resolutions, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to global peace, stability, and mutual respect.

The Turkish Speaker appreciated Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role in promoting regional peace and acknowledged its efforts in de-escalating tensions. He also commended the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, and Syed Asim Munir for their contributions to regional stability.

Both sides agreed to further strengthen parliamentary diplomacy through enhanced institutional cooperation, exchange of delegations, and closer engagement between their respective legislatures.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s appreciation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to continue playing a positive role in promoting peace and stability at both regional and global levels.
