Islamabad, May 4, 2026: Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin on Monday called on Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House to discuss bilateral relations, regional connectivity, and parliamentary cooperation.

Welcoming the envoy, Gilani appreciated the ambassador’s active role in strengthening Pakistan-Kazakhstan ties and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding relationship with Kazakhstan, based on mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for regional peace and prosperity.

According to a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat’s Media Directorate, the meeting featured detailed discussions on political and parliamentary cooperation, trade and economic collaboration, and regional connectivity initiatives.

The Senate chairman described the recent state visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan as a landmark development that elevated bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Highlighting the significance of parliamentary diplomacy, Gilani stressed the need to strengthen institutional linkages between the legislatures of both countries through regular high-level exchanges and the revival of parliamentary friendship groups.

On economic cooperation, he noted positive momentum in bilateral trade, particularly in the agriculture sector, and emphasized the importance of enhanced connectivity, including direct air links, to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.

Regional cooperation also came under discussion, with Gilani reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional market access and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening inter-regional linkages.

Ambassador Kistafin appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and connectivity and expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening cooperation through sustained dialogue and engagement at all levels.
