Islamabad, May 9, 2026: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) organised a series of events across the federal capital to commemorate the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, celebrating national unity, patriotism, and environmental responsibility.

The commemorative activities were held under the leadership of the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and aimed at paying tribute to the defenders of Pakistan while promoting community participation and environmental stewardship.

As part of the celebrations, CDA and MCI launched a large-scale tree plantation drive in the Margalla Hills National Park near Trail-3, where around 1,000 indigenous trees were planted by children from different parts of the city as a symbolic tribute to Marka-e-Haq.

Officials said the plantation campaign reflected the authorities’ commitment to making Islamabad greener, cleaner, and environmentally sustainable.

To mark the occasion, MCI also distributed commemorative patriotic T-shirts in various markazs, markets, and commercial centres throughout Islamabad. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from the business community and helped create an atmosphere of national pride across the capital.

A candlelight vigil was also held at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park), where children from Pakistan Sweet Home and other institutions presented national songs, speeches, and tribute performances in honour of the martyrs and armed forces of Pakistan.

In addition, MCI established a special community market to provide families and citizens with an opportunity to participate in the celebrations in a vibrant and family-friendly environment while supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The Chief Officer of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad personally supervised and coordinated the activities to ensure effective organisation and active public participation.

The Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, along with the Chief Officer MCI, said the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq was commemorated with dignity, patriotism, and national spirit. They noted that the activities reflected Islamabad’s collective commitment to unity, environmental conservation, and community cohesion.

The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, families, traders, and citizens from different walks of life, making the celebrations a meaningful tribute to Pakistan’s resilience, unity, and enduring national spirit.
