Islamabad, May 11, 2026: The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Middle East conflict, Jean Arnault, on Monday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad to discuss the evolving regional situation and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN envoy conveyed deep appreciation from the UN Secretary-General for Pakistan’s diplomatic role in promoting regional peace and stability. He also reaffirmed the United Nations’ continued support for Pakistan’s efforts in this regard.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar reviewed the latest regional developments with the envoy and highlighted Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement with relevant parties to support de-escalation and peace-building efforts.
The deputy prime minister also expressed gratitude to the UN Secretary-General for his “valuable contributions and consistent support” for Pakistan over the years.
Both sides discussed avenues for continued cooperation and coordination in addressing regional challenges, particularly in conflict-affected areas, and underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to maintain peace and stability.
