Sydney, May 11, 2026: Cricket Australia has announced a revamped squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the Pakistan national cricket team, featuring several debutants and returning players as senior stars are rested ahead of the home Test commitments.
Teenage batting prospect Oliver Peake and all-rounder Liam Scott have received maiden international call-ups in a squad that reflects Australia’s focus on building depth and exposure for emerging talent.
Senior players including captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood have been rested as they prepare for the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh.
Selector George Bailey said the tour offers a valuable opportunity to test new players in subcontinental conditions while maintaining a balanced squad structure.
“It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket,” Bailey said. “The blend of experienced and new players will provide a good mix for these tours.”
He added that exposure to varied conditions will remain a key focus over the next 18 months.
The squad also sees the return of fast bowler Billy Stanlake, who earns his first national call-up since 2019 after recovering from injury setbacks. Pacer Riley Meredith also returns to the ODI setup for the first time since 2024.
Several players involved in the ongoing Indian Premier League will join the squad later in Bangladesh, including Travis Head, Cooper Connolly, Xavier Bartlett, and Ben Dwarshuis.
