Islamabad, May 14,2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said Pakistan’s nuclear capability would remain the country’s defensive asset “until the end of time,” while paying tribute to the leaders, scientists, and institutions that played a role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.

Addressing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister said the nation recently commemorated the anniversary of the Marka-e-Haq (“Battle of Truth”) with great enthusiasm and unity, describing the occasion as a reflection of national solidarity and resilience.

“Through the infinite grace and blessings of Allah Almighty, Pakistan achieved victory, honor, and dignity, which was the result of national unity and harmony,” he said.

The prime minister stated that during the conflict, the entire nation stood united alongside the armed forces, adding that Pakistan’s military had demonstrated exceptional courage and professionalism.

Referring to the upcoming anniversary of May 28, observed as Youm-e-Takbeer, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the day would always remain a historic milestone in Pakistan’s history.

He reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear program was developed solely for defensive purposes and not for aggression, which is why the international community recognizes Pakistan as a responsible nuclear power.

Paying tribute to those involved in the nuclear program, the prime minister described former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear initiative and said former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif brought the program to its culmination.

He said that after achieving nuclear capability, Pakistan must now strive to become an economic power.

“We are working day and night as a team for economic stability and growth, and the results are gradually beginning to emerge,” he remarked, adding that although the journey is difficult and long, nations that confront challenges with determination ultimately succeed.

The prime minister also noted that economies across the region were facing challenges due to ongoing conflict and instability. He said that despite the situation, Pakistan had managed conditions comparatively better than several countries in the region.

“There were no prolonged queues or major disruptions here. Everyone worked together to handle the situation effectively,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to railway employee Liaquat, who lost his life while attempting to stop a terrorist attack, calling him “a hero of the nation.”

He further praised the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilians in the fight against terrorism, saying their contributions were unparalleled in world history.

A Fateha prayer was also offered during the federal cabinet meeting for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
