Islamabad, May 18, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met with Timur Turlov, founder and chief executive of Freedom Holding Corp, to discuss potential investment opportunities and expansion of digital financial services in Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.
During the meeting, the prime minister welcomed Turlov to Pakistan and conveyed warm wishes for Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.
Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Freedom Holding Corp’s interest in expanding its business operations in Pakistan, including through the establishment of branches, digital financial services, and correspondent banking partnerships.
The prime minister reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing economic reforms and ensuring investor-friendly policies aimed at promoting economic growth and digital transformation.
Highlighting the country’s young population and expanding digital infrastructure, he invited the company to actively participate in Pakistan’s financial market development.
Both sides also discussed possible collaboration in areas including retail brokerage, Islamic banking solutions, fintech innovation, and capital market development.
Timur Turlov expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic prospects and reaffirmed his company’s interest in exploring long-term strategic investments aligned with the country’s development priorities.
