Pakistan reaffirms commitment to strengthening ties with Iran

Islamabad, May 19, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Iran, Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar ahead of his departure to Tehran.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister recalled the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, reaffirming Islamabad’s strong commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration in trade, regional connectivity, people-to-people exchanges, and broader regional cooperation, while stressing the need to sustain the positive momentum in bilateral relations through close coordination and mutual understanding.

Mohammad Ishaq Dar also highlighted Pakistan’s constructive and responsible role in promoting regional peace, dialogue, and stability.

Expressing confidence in the ambassador-designate’s diplomatic abilities, the foreign minister said Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui would play an important role in further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two brother countries.

He also conveyed his best wishes to the ambassador-designate for success in his new diplomatic assignment in Tehran.
