Peshawar/Islamabad, May 22, 2026: A grand ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China was jointly organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and China Window at KP House in Islamabad, with Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati attending as chief guest.

The event was attended by diplomats, members of the provincial assembly, ministers, cultural personalities, and guests from various walks of life. Provincial Minister Nazeer Abbasi and lawmakers including Akbar Ayub Khan, Asif Mehsud, Ikram Ullah Ghazi, Faiza Malik, Anwar Khan, and Sonia Shah were also present.

The ceremony began with the national anthems of both countries, followed by a documentary presentation highlighting the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.

Administrator of China Window Amjad Aziz Malik welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in further strengthening bilateral ties.

A special commemorative song celebrating 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship was formally launched during the event. The song, based on Pashto poetry with Chinese and Urdu subtitles, received appreciation from the audience. Cultural performances and musical presentations highlighting the enduring friendship between the two countries were also held.

Chinese Cultural Counsellor Chen Ping addressed the gathering and described Pakistan-China relations as a model of mutual trust, strategic cooperation, and shared prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, Babar Saleem Swati said the friendship between Pakistan and China had successfully stood the test of time and continued to grow stronger with every passing decade. He termed the bilateral relationship a shining example of sincerity, mutual respect, and strategic partnership.

The speaker said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor reflects the shared vision of prosperity between the two countries and noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds a vital position in the initiative.

Highlighting parliamentary diplomacy, Swati referred to his recent visit to Kashgar and Ürümqi, where discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchange. He also mentioned progress toward establishing sister-city relations between Peshawar and Ürümqi, as well as Abbottabad and Kashgar.

The speaker appreciated the efforts of China Window in promoting cultural harmony through music, literature, and art. He also paid tribute to poet Abaseen Yousafzai and singers Dr. Irfan Khalil and Yamsa Noor for their contributions to the commemorative friendship song.

A commemorative souvenir was presented to distinguished guests, while a cake-cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to further strengthen people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
