Lahore, May 23, 2026: Shehbaz Sharif departed for China on Saturday on a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic cooperation under CPEC Phase-II.

The Prime Minister left for Hangzhou in the first phase of his visit, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During his stay in Hangzhou, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet the Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province and participate in a business forum aimed at enhancing collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese companies under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Prime Minister will also attend ceremonies for the exchange of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), besides holding meetings with chief executives of leading Chinese companies.

As part of the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit the headquarters of Alibaba and witness the signing of MoUs focused on cooperation in the technology and business sectors.

In the second leg of the visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Beijing, where he is expected to hold high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

He will also participate in an event commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The Prime Minister is further scheduled to meet heads of major Chinese enterprises and visit the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) to explore cooperation in the agriculture sector.

Officials said the visit is expected to open new avenues in Pakistan-China relations, particularly by accelerating industrial, technological, and business partnerships under CPEC Phase-II.
