Islamabad, May 25,2026: The Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Islamabad has extended heartfelt felicitations to African nations and communities around the world on the occasion of Africa Day, marking 63 years of African unity, integration, and development.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the embassy highlighted that the foundation for African unity was laid 63 years ago in Addis Ababa with the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963.

The statement noted that the organization later evolved into the African Union, which today serves as a united voice for Africa and provides member states with a collective platform to represent the continent on the global stage.

The embassy said Ethiopia played a leading role in promoting African unity and continues to champion the spirit of Pan-Africanism and regional cooperation.

Reaffirming its commitment to a shared future for the continent, the embassy called for renewed dedication towards building a united, prosperous, and more integrated Africa.

“Let us celebrate this important day together with a reaffirmation to a united, prosperous and more integrated Africa,” the statement added.
