Islamabad, June 8, 2026: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Monday announced that Pakistan will host two consecutive ITF W15 women’s Futures tournaments in Islamabad starting October 5, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the development of women’s tennis in the country.
According to the announcement, this will be the first time that two back-to-back International Tennis Federation (ITF) W15 tournaments are being staged in Pakistan, reflecting what the federation described as a major step forward in promoting women’s participation in international tennis and providing home-ground competitive opportunities.
The PTF said the initiative aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen Pakistan’s presence in international tennis circuits and to create pathways for emerging female athletes to earn world ranking points without the financial burden of foreign travel.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said Pakistan had already made progress in hosting ITF Men’s Futures events and was now extending similar opportunities to women players.
“We successfully provided strong opportunities for our men’s players through ITF Men’s Futures tournaments. Now we are proud to host two ITF W15 women’s Futures tournaments in October, giving our female players a chance to earn ranking points and gain international exposure at home,” he said.
He added that the tournaments would play an important role in preparing Pakistani players for upcoming international events, including the Billie Jean King Cup, while also reducing logistical and financial challenges associated with overseas participation.
Prominent national players, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zunaisha Noor, Zainab Ali Raja, Fatima Ali Raja, Laibah Durab and other emerging athletes are expected to benefit from the upcoming events.
The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association, established in 2024 under the initiative of the PTF, continues to play a supporting role in the promotion and development of women’s tennis across the country.
Pakistan Women Tennis Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja said the hosting of W15 tournaments would further strengthen Pakistan’s standing in international tennis and contribute to the growth of future champions.
“These W15 tournaments strengthen Pakistan’s position in international tennis and reflect PTF’s efforts to develop women’s tennis and nurture future champions,” she said.
PTF Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail described the decision to host consecutive international events as a major achievement, saying it would significantly enhance players’ exposure to competitive international tennis on home soil.
He said the initiative would help bridge the gap between domestic and international competition levels while encouraging more young women to pursue the sport professionally.
The federation expressed hope that the tournaments would further boost Pakistan’s image as a growing destination for international sporting events and contribute to the long-term development of tennis in the country.
