Mumbai, November 13, 2024- Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, a film he describes as a humorous take that goes far beyond his iconic 2007 hit, Taare Zameen Par. Starring Darsheel Safary, Genelia Deshmukh, and Khan himself, the movie is set for a December 25 theatrical release and is directed by R.S. Prasanna, with Khan and Kiran Rao producing.

During a conversation, Khan shared insights into the upcoming movie, explaining that while Taare Zameen Par touched audiences with an emotional storyline, Sitaare Zameen Par takes a light-hearted approach. “It’s a humorous film,” he said, clarifying that, despite a similar theme, the emotional tone is different. “This film will make people laugh rather than cry.”

Khan revealed that Sitaare Zameen Par flips the script of the original, shifting the focus from a single child with challenges, Ishaan, to a group of ten children with unique struggles who help Khan’s character, described as an ordinary person. He noted, “In many ways, it’s way ahead of Taare Zameen Par—the ones with challenges are guiding my character this time.”

This return to acting is significant for Khan, who had contemplated stepping away after Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) but was ultimately persuaded to stay by his family. He has since been active in producing films, including Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, but Sitaare Zameen Par marks his return to the screen.

Co-star Darsheel Safary, who previously worked with Khan in Taare Zameen Par, shared his excitement about reuniting with the actor, noting Khan’s surprised reaction to seeing how much he has grown up. “I remember asking for a black coffee, and he gave me this shocked look, like, ‘What?’” Safary recounted with a laugh, adding that Khan assured him the film was going to be amazing.

With a release date set for Christmas Day 2024, Sitaare Zameen Par promises to be a heartwarming and humorous addition to Khan’s celebrated body of work.
