Islamabad, June 17, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss recent diplomatic developments in the Middle East, including the emerging understanding between the United States and Iran.

According to the Foreign Office, the two leaders exchanged views on the recent understandings reached between Washington and Tehran and the forthcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) scheduled to take place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on Friday.

The conversation focused on regional peace efforts and the evolving diplomatic landscape following months of tensions in the Middle East. Both foreign ministers welcomed continued engagement aimed at promoting stability and dialogue in the region.

Dar and Abdelatty also reviewed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Regional Four (R-4) foreign ministers, expected to be held later this month. The forum is seen as an important platform for consultations on regional security, political developments, and cooperation among participating countries.

The two ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual interest.

The telephone conversation reflects the growing diplomatic engagement among regional stakeholders as efforts continue to consolidate the recent progress in US-Iran relations and strengthen cooperation on broader regional issues.
