Islamabad, June 17, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss recent regional developments, including the emerging understanding between the United States and Iran, as well as bilateral relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.

According to the Foreign Office, the two foreign ministers welcomed the recent understandings reached between Washington and Tehran and exchanged views on the forthcoming signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), scheduled to take place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 19.

The discussion focused on ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and dialogue in the region. Both leaders expressed hope that the agreement would contribute positively to regional security and help reduce tensions in the Middle East.

Dar and Fidan also reviewed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Regional Four (R-4) Foreign Ministers, which is expected to take place later this month. The two sides underscored the importance of continued regional consultations and cooperation on issues of mutual concern.

In addition to regional matters, the two ministers discussed Pakistan-Türkiye bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly ties between the two countries.

Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy close diplomatic, economic and strategic relations, with both countries maintaining regular high-level exchanges and cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including trade, defense, education and multilateral diplomacy.

The conversation reflected the shared commitment of Islamabad and Ankara to enhancing bilateral cooperation while working together to support peace, stability and constructive engagement in the broader region.
