Islamabad, June 18, 2026: Canada has commended Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic efforts in facilitating engagement between the United States and Iran, recognizing Islamabad’s role in supporting mediation initiatives that contributed to the recent understanding reached between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Wednesday night.

During the discussion, Foreign Minister Anand appreciated Pakistan’s contribution to diplomatic outreach and mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions and fostering dialogue between Washington and Tehran. She acknowledged Pakistan’s support for initiatives that helped create conditions for the understanding recently achieved between the United States and Iran.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on the upcoming engagement between the US and Iran scheduled to take place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on Friday, expressing hope that the process would contribute to regional stability and sustained diplomatic progress.

The conversation also focused on bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada. Both leaders welcomed the positive momentum in ties between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political engagement, trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts.

The exchange reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Ottawa at a time when Pakistan has been actively supporting international efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.

Foreign Minister Dar and his Canadian counterpart agreed to remain in close contact and continue working together to advance shared objectives on regional and global issues.
