Karachi, November 14, 2024-Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for not honoring political agreements and failing to respect the PPP within the federal government. Speaking at Bilawal House in Karachi on Thursday, Bilawal expressed that the issue was not personal but about political integrity and respect.

“Politics is about respect, not resentment,” Bilawal said, adding that if the judiciary had adequate representation from rural Sindh, the PPP would have demanded equal treatment. He also pointed out discrepancies in the implementation of constitutional reforms, alleging that the government had backtracked on promises made to Sindh, adopting different policies for the province compared to the rest of the country.

Bilawal also criticized the government’s failure to consult the PPP on key decisions, particularly regarding the approval of infrastructure projects like the canals under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). “We had agreed on consultation, but decisions were made without proper dialogue,” he said.

On the recent killing of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, Bilawal condemned the act and echoed the Chinese ambassador’s statement, calling the murders “unacceptable.” He emphasized that such violence against foreign nationals who contribute to Pakistan’s economy must not be tolerated.

Bilawal also expressed concerns over the growing security challenges, particularly terrorism. He called for more concrete action from the government to combat terrorism and extremism, especially in regions like Balochistan and former tribal areas. “We need less talk and more action,” he urged, stressing the importance of a national action plan.

Regarding Pakistan’s strained relations with the United States, Bilawal remarked on the deteriorating ties and stated that, regardless of the outcome of the US elections, efforts should be made to rebuild the relationship.

The PPP chairman also criticized the government’s decision to impose further internet restrictions, calling them out of touch with reality. “The internet has become so slow, it feels like the 1990s again,” he said, referring to the outdated connectivity affecting technology access.

In a separate development, Bilawal provided an update on his father, former President Asif Ali Zardari’s health, revealing that he is recovering from a leg injury that resulted in four fractures. Bilawal stated that his father would require several weeks of rest for a full recovery.Top of Form
