Islamabad, June 22, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar announced on Monday that eight Iranian fishermen, who were rescued at sea by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground, have been successfully repatriated to Iran.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the fishermen departed from Karachi earlier in the day following the completion of all necessary arrangements for their safe return.

In a statement shared on social media, Dar said that Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with relevant national authorities, worked closely with Iranian and British officials to facilitate the fishermen’s transit and ensure their early repatriation.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and all concerned authorities coordinated closely with the Iranian and UK authorities to facilitate the safe transit and early return of our Iranian brethren to their homeland,” he stated.

Dar expressed appreciation for the trust placed by the Iranian government in Pakistan’s handling of the matter and commended the cooperation extended by all stakeholders involved in the rescue and repatriation process.

The successful operation reflects the close humanitarian cooperation between Pakistan, Iran, and the United Kingdom, underscoring the importance of regional and international coordination in responding to maritime emergencies and ensuring the welfare of seafarers.

Officials said the fishermen were provided all necessary assistance during their stay in Pakistan before being safely transferred to their home country. The incident highlights the commitment of Pakistani authorities to extending humanitarian support to individuals in distress, regardless of nationality.
