ISLAMABAD: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar warmly welcomed the delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Pakistan on the occasion of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, expressing confidence that the high-level gathering would further strengthen unity and cooperation among OIC member states.
He said it was an honour for Pakistan to host representatives from across the Muslim world for this important conference, being held under the theme, "The Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Countries: Challenges and the Way Forward."
The Deputy Chairman Senate said the conference reflects the collective commitment of OIC member states to promoting women's empowerment, expanding opportunities in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, technology and leadership, and ensuring their meaningful participation in social, economic and political development.
Syedaal Khan Nasar noted that Pakistan is proud to assume the chairmanship of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women for the next two years, describing it as a significant responsibility and an opportunity to further strengthen collaboration among member countries.
He expressed hope that the conference would conclude with productive recommendations and the adoption of the Islamabad Declaration, providing a comprehensive roadmap for inclusive and sustainable development and greater empowerment of women across the Muslim world.
The Deputy Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to promoting peace, unity, mutual respect and shared progress within the OIC, and wished the conference every success.
