Peshawar, November 18, 2024- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to urgently convene a session of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
In a letter addressed to the prime minister, the chief minister emphasized the pressing economic and internal challenges faced by the provinces, underscoring the need for immediate intergovernmental discussions.
“The provinces are currently grappling with numerous economic and administrative issues that require the convening of a CCI meeting,” the letter stated.
The chief minister highlighted that convening a CCI session every 90 days is a constitutional obligation under Article 154 of the Constitution. “The last CCI meeting was held in January this year, and it is imperative to address the pending issues between the federal and provincial governments,” he added.
The letter stressed that the CCI provides a critical platform to resolve mutual concerns and promote cooperative governance between the center and the provinces.
