Dallas, November 18, 2024 – Renowned Pakistani classical singer and heir to the Patiala Gharana, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, has urged young people to appreciate both classical and contemporary music.
In an interview with a private TV channel, the distinguished artist, who has received two prestigious national honors, shared his thoughts on the importance of a balanced musical education. “My message is to listen to both contemporary and classical music,” said Ustad Hamid. “Modern music has its charm, but true music comes from years of dedication and practice. To truly appreciate it, one must listen closely and understand its depth.”
Ustad Hamid emphasized his efforts to create music that resonates with the younger generation, gradually helping them recognize the value of classical music. “It’s important to introduce them to genres like ghazal, thumri, and other classical forms,” he explained.
He also called on the government and cultural institutions to take a more active role in promoting the true essence of music. “It is essential for the new generation to be able to distinguish between quality music and mediocre content,” he stressed.
Additionally, the legendary musician urged the government to provide more support and patronage for initiatives that nurture classical music and cultural heritage.
