Islamabad, August 2, 2026: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has said that the longstanding relationship between Iran and Pakistan has entered a new and unprecedented phase, describing the bilateral partnership as stronger than ever and resilient against external challenges.

In a post on social media platform X, the ambassador said the historic relationship between the two neighbouring countries is rooted in centuries of shared history, civilisation, culture and faith, enabling it to withstand the test of time.

He noted that Iran was the first country to recognise Pakistan after its independence, while Pakistan was the first country to recognise the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling the two milestones a reflection of the exceptional nature of bilateral ties.

Moghadam said relations between the two countries have been significantly strengthened over the past two years, with cooperation expanding across multiple sectors.

Highlighting parliamentary solidarity, he said lawmakers from both countries have consistently supported one another, recalling that Pakistan’s Parliament adopted a resolution in support of Iran on the first day of the Israeli aggression against the country.

The ambassador said members of the Iranian Parliament had chanted “Pakistan Tashakur” in the presence of the Iranian President, while Iranian citizens also expressed gratitude by waving the flags of Iran and Pakistan together.

He further noted that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, in his first Nowruz message, underscored the importance of relations with Pakistan, reflecting the significance attached to the bilateral partnership.

Referring to the exchange of high-level visits, Moghadam said the relationship has been reinforced through frequent engagements over the past two years, including two visits by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan, several visits by Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Iran, multiple visits by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, as well as meetings between other senior officials.

He recalled President Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad in June 2026, during which the Iranian leader conveyed the gratitude of the Iranian government and people to Pakistan for its support.

The envoy also appreciated Pakistan’s participation in the ceremony held in honour of Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader, saying the country’s high-level delegation reflected the depth of solidarity and mutual respect between the two nations.

“Today, by the grace of Almighty Allah, the brotherly relations between Iran and Pakistan have reached a level where no challenge, phenomenon or external factor can weaken the love, friendship and brotherhood between our nations,” he said.

Comparing the relationship to the towering peaks of Damavand and K2, Moghadam said the friendship between Iran and Pakistan could serve as a model of mutual respect, good neighbourliness and sincere cooperation for the entire region.

He also expressed hope that Muslim and neighbouring countries would work together in an atmosphere of peace, stability and security to promote development, prosperity and the welfare of their peoples.
