Islamabad, August 11, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, which Pakistan will host in March 2027.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for hosting the regional sporting event, with the deputy prime minister directing the establishment of subcommittees to oversee key aspects of the Games.
The subcommittees will focus on financing, infrastructure development and upgradation, athletes’ training and preparation, and logistical arrangements.
Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of timely planning and close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that Pakistan hosts the Games to the highest standards.
He said the 14th South Asian Games would provide Pakistan with an important opportunity to showcase its sporting talent, hospitality and organisational capacity while conveying a message of peace, friendship, goodwill and harmony to the world.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Arif Saeed, Secretary of the Inter-Provincial Coordination Division, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, officials of the Ministry of Finance, and representatives of the governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
