Rawalpindi, August 12, 2026: At least eight terrorists affiliated with what the military described as Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan were killed when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated prematurely while being prepared in the Surab district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the premature explosion killed eight militants and injured several others. The blast also triggered other explosives stored at the site, killing three civilians in the vicinity and injuring several militants.
Following the explosion, security forces and Balochistan Police reached the area and launched a joint clearance operation to track down the militants and their facilitators.
During the operation, security forces detected fleeing terrorists and engaged them. Two soldiers were also injured in an exchange of fire, according to the ISPR.
Sanitisation operations were continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
The ISPR said the counterterrorism campaign being conducted under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace”.
The incident came a day after security forces killed five militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district.
