Rawalpindi, August 21, 2026: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, leading a high-level delegation, on Friday called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding fraternal ties with Syria and shared Islamabad’s perspective on global peace and regional stability. He underscored the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to address common security challenges.

The Syrian foreign minister appreciated the professional role played by the Armed Forces of Pakistan in promoting regional peace and stability.

Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen Pakistan-Syria relations and expand bilateral engagement, particularly in the fields of defence and security.

Al-Shaibani’s visit marks a significant step in renewed high-level engagement between Pakistan and Syria, with both countries seeking to broaden cooperation across multiple areas following years of limited senior-level exchanges.
