Islamabad, August 24, 2026: Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan Paulo Domingues met Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Babar Saleem Swati in Islamabad and discussed ways to further strengthen Portugal-Pakistan relations.
The meeting focused particularly on expanding engagement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through parliamentary diplomacy and closer institutional, economic, academic and cultural cooperation.
The two sides identified several potential areas for enhanced collaboration, including tourism, renewable energy, water management, agriculture and agribusiness, education and vocational training, digital technologies, infrastructure and sustainable development of natural resources.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore new avenues for strengthening institutional links between Portugal and KP and promoting greater interaction between the two sides.
The Embassy of Portugal said it would continue efforts to strengthen the provincial and parliamentary dimensions of Portugal-Pakistan relations, with the aim of building new bridges and creating opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
