London, August 28, 2026: Ollie Robinson produced a devastating spell of four wickets for 11 runs as England bowled Pakistan out for just 110 on the second day of the second Test at Lord’s on Friday, securing a commanding 180-run first-innings lead.

Pakistan, who resumed their innings at 16-2 in reply to England’s 290, lost their remaining eight wickets for 94 runs and were dismissed in 37.2 overs. Their task was further complicated by the absence of opener Imam-ul-Haq, who did not bat after sustaining an injury.

Young opener Azan Awais mounted Pakistan’s only significant resistance, top-scoring with 46 from 102 deliveries, including seven boundaries. Saud Shakeel was the only other Pakistani batter to reach double figures, scoring 16 off 16 balls.

Azan and Saud added 33 runs for the fourth wicket, but once the partnership was broken, Pakistan’s innings rapidly unravelled.

Robinson spearheaded England’s attack with figures of 4-11 from 13 overs, while Jofra Archer claimed three wickets and Josh Tongue took two as the hosts’ bowlers relentlessly exploited Pakistan’s fragile batting lineup.

The collapse followed an already difficult start to Pakistan’s innings.

Resuming at 16-2 after lunch, Pakistan lost experienced opener Shan Masood for one in the fourth over on Friday morning, with only five runs on the board.

Azan then joined Abdullah Shafique, but their partnership lasted only 11 runs before Tongue had Shafique caught behind off the first delivery of the 15th over.

With Imam unable to bat because of injury, Pakistan were left increasingly vulnerable and failed to build a substantial partnership after Azan’s resistance was finally ended.

England extend advantage after strong lower-order stand

Earlier in the day, England completed their first innings at 290 after resuming at 248-9.

Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue added 42 runs in 10.4 overs before Atkinson was dismissed for 45 off 46 balls, including six boundaries.

Tongue remained unbeaten on 30 off 48 deliveries, with four boundaries, as the pair’s 47-run last-wicket partnership rescued England from a precarious position and helped establish a competitive total.

Pakistan’s bowlers had dominated much of England’s innings, with Mohammad Abbas finishing as their leading wicket-taker with 4-73 from 20 overs. Mohammad Ali claimed three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad and Ali Usman took one apiece.

England had resumed at 248-9 after rain and bad light restricted the opening day to only 56 overs.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam had won the toss and elected to field, and his decision initially appeared to pay off as the visitors’ pace attack dismantled England’s top order.

England openers Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay added 21 runs inside five overs before Abbas had Gay caught behind.

The veteran seamer struck again in his next over, dismissing Duckett for 17 off 20 balls to reduce England to 26-2.

Joe Root then joined Jordan Cox but managed only four from 13 deliveries before Abbas claimed his third wicket after a 10-run partnership.

Harry Brook contributed 15 before Mohammad Ali bowled him in the final over of the opening session, leaving England under considerable pressure.

England reached tea at 180-5 after scoring 100 runs for the loss of one wicket during the middle session.

Cox, who top-scored for England with 55 off 105 balls, was dismissed after Dan Lawrence was run out for 17 following a mix-up.

Jamie Smith then scored 61 from 80 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, and shared a 35-run partnership with Atkinson before Mohammad Ali dismissed him.

Ali struck again in the same over to bowl Ollie Robinson for a duck, leaving England at 222-8.

Atkinson and Jofra Archer added 21 for the ninth wicket before Abbas removed Archer for 14, setting up the final-wicket stand that took England to 290.

With England now holding a 180-run lead and Pakistan’s batting having collapsed, the hosts are firmly in control of the second Test as the match enters its next phase.
