Islamabad, August 30, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic ferry accident off Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In a statement on Sunday, the Foreign Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident and expressed solidarity with all those affected by the tragedy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected, as well as the missing persons and their loved ones,” Ishaq Dar said.
He said Pakistan stood in solidarity with the people of Türkiye and Northern Cyprus during the difficult hour and prayed for the success of ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The Foreign Minister also expressed hope that the missing persons would be located safely as rescue teams continued their operations following the accident.
