Samarkand, September 5, 2026: Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani of Pakistan chaired a high-level session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians 2026 in the historic Uzbek city of Samarkand.
The international gathering brought together young parliamentarians and parliamentary delegations from more than 75 countries to deliberate on challenges confronting younger generations and the role of young legislators in building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Chairing the session, Senator Durrani led discussions among parliamentarians representing diverse regions, highlighting the importance of stronger youth representation in political decision-making and enhanced international parliamentary cooperation.
The conference provided young legislators with an opportunity to exchange perspectives, strengthen parliamentary networks and develop common approaches to emerging global challenges.
Senator Durrani’s role as chair of the session reflected Pakistan’s active engagement with the IPU and its contribution to international parliamentary diplomacy and youth leadership.
The gathering concluded with a renewed emphasis on translating the voice of the younger generation into meaningful political participation, effective policymaking and concrete action.
