Islamabad, September 22, 2026: Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Industries and Production Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan on Tuesday held a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Li Shuyin, Deputy Director General of the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), Ministry of Commerce of China, to discuss development cooperation between the two countries.
Additional Secretary (Trade Diplomacy), Ministry of Commerce, Nasir Hamid, and representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad also attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on ongoing and prospective Chinese development cooperation in Pakistan, including material assistance, construction-related projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening local capacity.
The Chinese delegation appreciated the cooperation extended by the Government of Pakistan and relevant institutions in facilitating the implementation of various cooperation initiatives.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal acknowledged CICETE’s longstanding engagement in Pakistan and appreciated its contribution to development assistance and cooperation projects.
He said CICETE had maintained a strong presence in Pakistan and contributed to initiatives supporting local communities and development priorities, particularly in Balochistan.
The participants also explored opportunities for greater cooperation in areas where Chinese expertise, technology and resources could contribute to Pakistan’s development objectives.
The PM’s coordinator stressed the importance of continued institutional engagement between the two sides to facilitate ongoing projects and identify new areas of mutual interest.
He also appreciated CICETE and the Chinese government’s contribution towards strengthening practical cooperation under the broader framework of Pakistan-China relations.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on ongoing initiatives and potential areas for further collaboration.
