New York, September 24, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in multiple areas.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers felicitated each other on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany and reaffirmed the importance of sustained high-level engagement to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, economic relations and business-to-business linkages.
They also agreed to promote cooperation in defence, education, skilled labour and people-to-people contacts.
The foreign ministers exchanged views on regional developments, with the German foreign minister appreciating Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
The two sides also discussed the situation in Palestine. Dar reaffirmed the importance of sustained international efforts for a ceasefire, humanitarian assistance and a just and lasting solution based on the two-state solution.
The two ministers agreed to remain in close contact.
