Islamabad, September 25, 2026: Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowering young people across the Muslim world through scientific cooperation, education, research and skills development.
In a message marking the 57th anniversary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Choudhary extended congratulations to OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the governments and peoples of all 57 member states, OIC institutions and the wider community.
He described the OIC as the world’s second-largest intergovernmental organisation and the collective voice of the Muslim world.
The Coordinator General called for greater cooperation among member states to address challenges facing Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, war-affected communities and people across Africa.
He said rehabilitation, food security, clean water, healthcare, education, modern technology and climate resilience should remain shared priorities.
Prof. Choudhary said creating opportunities for the youth of the Muslim world remained OIC-COMSTECH’s foremost commitment.
He highlighted the organisation’s extensive fellowship programme, along with special initiatives for young researchers, women scientists, Least Developed Countries and African member states.
He also highlighted the Health Africa Programme, scholarships and research fellowships for Palestinians, youth skills development, research grants, eye camps and ophthalmology training.
Other initiatives include capacity-building programmes for teachers working with children with disabilities, projects focusing on climate change, information technology, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, the COMSTECH Expert Service Programme and Science in Exile for displaced and conflict-affected scholars.
Prof. Choudhary said COMSTECH also implements special country programmes tailored to the needs of OIC member and observer states.
He invited governments, universities, research institutions and development partners to work with COMSTECH to advance scientific cooperation and human development across the Muslim world.
He reaffirmed that COMSTECH would continue working to empower young people and contribute to building a stronger, self-reliant and knowledge-driven OIC community through collective efforts.
