Islamabad, October 2,2026: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Friday for the forensic examination and analysis of his mobile phone, which was taken into the agency’s custody last month.
According to a second notice issued to Rizwan, the NCCIA sought his cooperation in conducting a forensic examination of the device seized from the national cricketer.
Rizwan was summoned under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Sources said a four-member NCCIA team, comprising a deputy director and three inspectors, would question the cricketer.
Speaking to a private news channel while appearing before the agency, Rizwan declined to comment when asked about the inquiry and what he had been asked to appear for.
Asked about the allegations against him, he said: “Ask them [NCCIA].”
In an earlier letter, Rizwan had sought written details of the inquiry and requested the return of his mobile phone.
Rizwan had previously said the device was taken from him in England on August 31 and that he provided its password at the time. He also said the phone was examined in his presence.
He further stated that when he appeared before the NCCIA on September 10, officials had access to his unlocked phone and were able to review messages and other material.
According to agency sources, the NCCIA had contacted Rizwan several times seeking his cooperation. Sources close to the cricketer, however, said he had been seeking clarity about the proceedings and consulting his lawyer.
Rizwan has been under investigation by the NCCIA for about a month after the agency confiscated his mobile phone during Pakistan’s Test tour of England.
The inquiry reportedly concerns allegations related to online betting, gambling and the alleged leaking of team information from the dressing room. Pakistan lost the three-match Test series 3-0.
