Nagoya, October 2,2026: Pakistan lost 2-0 to Malaysia in the men’s squash team gold-medal match at the Asian Games 2026 at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena on Friday.
Malaysia took an early lead in the final after Ameeshenraj Chandaran defeated Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal 3-1 in the opening match.
Nasir made a strong start, winning the first game 11-8 in nine minutes. Chandaran responded impressively, winning the next three games 11-3, 11-6 and 11-4 in 26 minutes to put Malaysia ahead.
Noor Zaman then faced Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng in the second match, with Pakistan needing a victory to keep the final alive.
Zaman, who had lost to Hong Kong’s Tsz Kwan Lau in the semi-final before Pakistan won that tie 2-1, struggled initially and lost the opening game 11-8.
The 22-year-old fought back to win the next two games 11-6 and 11-7, moving within one game of taking the match to a deciding contest.
Yow Ng, however, halted Pakistan’s comeback by winning the fourth game 11-4 before sealing the match with an 11-5 victory in the fifth.
The 2-0 defeat handed Malaysia the gold medal and left Pakistan with silver in the men’s squash team event.
The silver is Pakistan’s first medal at the Asian Games 2026, coming after the country had won six bronze medals.
