Rawalpindi, November 27, 2024-General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), has lauded the Pakistan Army’s commitment and professionalism in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The remarks were made during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, General Youxia visited GHQ, where he reiterated China’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

Initially, COAS Munir and General Youxia held a one-on-one meeting, which was followed by delegation-level discussions. The talks focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, measures to enhance regional stability, and boosting bilateral defence cooperation.

General Munir highlighted the enduring and all-weather nature of Pakistan-China relations, underpinned by mutual trust and cooperation. He reaffirmed that this historic partnership has withstood the test of time and is poised for further growth.

The COAS also expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support for Pakistan, regardless of changes in the international and regional landscape.

Earlier, upon his arrival at GHQ, General Youxia laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs. He received a warm reception, including a guard of honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
