Islamabad, October 19,2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday pledged to provide all possible resources and facilities to Daanish schools, as the government moved to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education through a partnership with technology company Gauth AI.
Addressing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education and Gauth AI, the prime minister described the agreement as an important step towards expanding educational opportunities and welcomed the company’s decision to provide free subscriptions for Pakistani students and teachers.
He said Gauth was initially gifting 4,000 subscriptions to Pakistan, including 1,000 for teachers associated with the government’s Daanish schools initiative.
Shehbaz said the government was committed to providing students with quality education and modern learning facilities, describing Daanish schools as a significant initiative offering free education.
“There is no dearth of resources, and the government will provide all possible resources to the Daanish schools,” he said, reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting the institutions and their students.
Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative reflected the prime minister’s vision of promoting technology-led development and improving education through modern digital solutions.
She said TikTok had made its AI technology available in Pakistan, while paid versions of Gauth AI were being launched in the country, making Pakistan the first country after the United States to receive the facility.
Maria Kohan, regional director of global public policy at ByteDance Ltd, said technology could inspire creativity, create opportunities and transform lives, particularly in education.
She said ByteDance had already contributed to educational awareness through TikTok. Its dedicated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) feed, launched in Pakistan in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, was helping young people explore educational content in new ways.
The launch of Gauth in Pakistan, she added, marked another step in the company’s efforts to support education through technology.
Gauth is an AI-powered study platform that offers step-by-step explanations, personalised AI tutoring and interactive learning tools to help students understand concepts rather than simply obtain answers.
Kohan said the platform was already serving more than 200 million users worldwide and expressed the company’s commitment to making its tools available to Pakistan’s younger generation.
She said the free subscriptions would give students and teachers access to AI-powered resources designed to support teaching and improve learning experiences. Gauth would also provide 180 additional free subscriptions for local students.
The initiative aims to broaden access to digital learning tools and help students and teachers benefit from emerging technologies as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its education system.
