Rawalpindi, October 20,2026: Emerging Pakistan all-rounder Arafat Minhas on Tuesday joined legendary cricketers Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq as the only three Pakistan players to score a half-century and take five or more wickets in the same One-Day International (ODI).
The 21-year-old achieved the milestone during Pakistan’s second match in the ongoing tri-series against England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, producing a match-winning performance with both bat and ball.
Minhas, who made his ODI debut against Australia in May this year, reached the landmark in only his fifth appearance in the format.
Coming to the crease when Pakistan were struggling at 133-5 in 27.3 overs, the left-handed batter scored a brisk 59 off 58 deliveries, smashing nine boundaries.
His contribution, alongside Hasan Nawaz’s impressive 79, helped Pakistan recover from an early batting collapse and post a competitive total of 302-9 in their allotted 50 overs.
Minhas then delivered a remarkable performance with the ball, claiming six wickets for just 40 runs in 8.4 overs to dismantle England’s batting line-up and guide Pakistan to an emphatic 87-run victory.
England, chasing a target of 303, were bowled out for 215, with Minhas becoming the standout performer of the match.
The achievement placed him alongside Pakistan’s celebrated all-rounders Afridi and Razzaq, who had previously accomplished the feat in ODIs.
Afridi was the first Pakistani to achieve the double, scoring 61 runs and taking five wickets for 40 runs against England in Lahore in 2000.
The former Pakistan captain also holds the distinction of being the only cricketer in international cricket to record a half-century and a five-wicket haul in an ODI on three occasions.
Razzaq achieved the feat against India in 2000, scoring 70 runs and taking five wickets for 48 runs.
Afridi subsequently repeated the achievement against Sri Lanka in 2011, scoring 75 runs and taking five wickets for 35 runs, and against the West Indies in 2013, scoring 76 runs and claiming seven wickets for just 12 runs.
Minhas’s performance against England has added his name to this select group and highlighted his potential as a promising all-rounder for Pakistan.
