Islamabad, October 28,2026: The Pakistan–Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by its Convener and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, met the German ambassador Ina Lepel at Parliament House on Wednesday to discuss strengthening parliamentary engagement and bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Mohammad Ilyas Choudhary, Mohammad Riaz Fatyana, Dr. Shahida Rehmani and Natasha Daultana.

Welcoming the German ambassador, the deputy speaker reaffirmed the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Germany, highlighting the significance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.

He emphasised the need to strengthen parliamentary exchanges and expressed hope that a counterpart Parliamentary Friendship Group would be established in the German Bundestag.

The German ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to parliamentary diplomacy and reaffirmed Germany’s cooperation in development, climate change, renewable energy, vocational training and skills development.

Both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral trade and investment, address export-related challenges and enhance the role of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) in facilitating Pakistan’s access to European markets.

They also explored opportunities for academic collaboration, scholarships, people-to-people exchanges, women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary ties and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation across key sectors.
