Islamabad, December 1, 2024 – Internet users across Pakistan are experiencing significant disruptions, with services slowing down nationwide. The issue, which began on Saturday night, has severely impacted online communication, social media usage, and professional tasks.

Popular platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have reportedly been suspended or are functioning at reduced speeds, leaving millions frustrated. Users have particularly struggled with downloading content on WhatsApp, further complicating personal and professional communication.

The disruptions have affected major internet providers, including PTCL, as well as global services like Google. Despite widespread complaints, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the outage, leaving users in the dark.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the government may have implemented a firewall system to monitor anti-state content on social media platforms, contributing to the slowed internet speeds. However, the exact reasons remain unclear, adding to public frustration over the country’s ongoing internet reliability challenges.

The slowdown has caused widespread inconvenience, with users voicing their concerns about the lack of transparency and the impact on daily life and work.
