Washington, December 13, 2024: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, met with Congressman Brian Mast, the newly elected Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, on Thursday. This influential congressional body plays a pivotal role in overseeing and shaping U.S. foreign policy and international assistance.

Congressman Mast, an Army veteran from Florida, was elected as chairman on Monday by the House Republican Steering Committee.

“We had an optimistic discussion on strengthening bilateral ties through deeper economic engagement,” Ambassador Sheikh shared in a tweet. He added, “Explored prospects and avenues for advancing Pak-U.S. cooperation and partnership in the evolving global scenario.”

The ambassador noted that Chairman Mast acknowledged Pakistan’s geopolitical and geo-economic significance, emphasizing that “cooperation is the best way forward.”

Ambassador Sheikh also extended his best wishes to Congressman Mast for success in his new role, stating, “Wished him all the best every step of the way in this important new role.”
