Karachi, December 14, 2024: The celebrated Urdu poet Jaun Elia is being honored on his 93rd birth anniversary. Born on December 14, 1931, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, he hailed from a distinguished family. His father, Allama Shafiq Hasan Elia, was a poet, astrologer, and lover of literature. Jaun Elia wrote his first couplet at the age of 8, mastering multiple languages. After moving to Karachi in 1957, his first poetry collection, Shayad, was published in 1991. His later collections were published posthumously.
