Zurich— Switzerland has imposed a ban on the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, accusing it of terrorism. According to international media, the Swiss government has also approved a legal draft regarding the ban on Hamas, which includes penalties of imprisonment or fines for violations. This draft will soon be sent to parliament for approval.

Local media reports indicate that Jewish organizations in Switzerland, SIG and PLJS, played a key role in pressuring the Swiss government to take this decision.

Analysts suggest that with this move, Switzerland’s role as a mediator in the Israel-Palestine conflict may come to an end.
