Cape Town, January 7, 2025: Pakistan’s rising batting star, Saim Ayub, has departed for London to receive urgent medical treatment after sustaining a right ankle fracture during the second Test against South Africa. The injury occurred on Friday while fielding on the first day of the match, which Pakistan lost by ten wickets.

Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood accompanied Saim to oversee his treatment. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken a personal interest in ensuring Saim receives top-tier medical care, directing that he undergo a thorough evaluation by renowned sports orthopaedic specialists in England.

“Saim Ayub is a valuable asset for Pakistan cricket,” Naqvi stated. “We are committed to providing him with the best possible treatment and support for his recovery.” He also conveyed his best wishes for Saim’s swift recovery, adding that he will stay in close contact with the doctors managing his case.

The young cricketer sustained the injury during South Africa’s first innings while attempting a relay fielding effort in the deep third-man region. Despite a valiant attempt to stop the ball, Saim lost balance and stumbled, injuring his ankle. He was treated on the field before being carried off due to significant pain.

Saim’s medical evaluation in London is scheduled for tomorrow, after which a detailed rehabilitation plan will be outlined.
