Islamabad, January 13,2025: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, conducted a live e-Kachehri session through the program’s official Facebook account to engage directly with beneficiaries and address their concerns. Over one hour and ten minutes, 32 callers from across Pakistan shared their issues with the Chairperson, who provided immediate directives to the BISP team for resolution.

A standout moment during the session came from Ayesha, a 17-year-old eighth-grade student from Dera Ismail Khan. Demonstrating remarkable honesty, Ayesha informed Senator Khalid that her family’s financial situation had improved and requested their removal from the BISP beneficiary list, allowing assistance to reach a more deserving family. Senator Khalid praised Ayesha’s integrity and announced her intention to visit the family to personally commend their noble gesture.

Senator Khalid stated, “It would greatly benefit our program if more individuals who no longer consider themselves in need would come forward voluntarily to withdraw. This would allow us to extend assistance to other deserving families.”

Senator Khalid emphasized the importance of BISP’s educational initiatives, particularly its school enrollment stipend program, aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children. She also clarified that government employees are ineligible for BISP under the revised criteria.

Additionally, she announced an increase in the quarterly Kafalat cash assistance, raising the amount from PKR 10,500 to PKR 13,500 effective January 2025. She credited President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for prioritizing transparency and dignity in delivering aid. Beneficiaries were advised to verify their full payment upon receipt and report any unauthorized deductions.

To enhance security, beneficiaries were reminded to use only the official helpline (0800-26477) and recognize the official SMS number (8171). Suspicious messages or requests for personal information should be reported immediately.

In her concluding remarks, Senator Rubina Khalid reiterated BISP’s mission of serving underprivileged communities. “We will continue this mission of serving the underprivileged, as envisioned by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, by ensuring transparency and actively resolving complaints.”

The live e-Kachehri highlighted BISP’s dedication to engaging directly with its beneficiaries, addressing their grievances, and fostering a culture of honesty and transparency in public service.
