Dubai, January 14, 2025: Jasprit Bumrah’s remarkable performances during India’s tour of Australia in December 2024 have earned him the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, overcoming strong competition from Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson.
Over the course of three Test matches, Bumrah claimed an impressive 22 wickets at a stunning average of 14.22, leading India’s bowling attack with extraordinary skill.
Bumrah’s brilliance was evident from the outset, particularly in Adelaide, where his four-wicket haul played a key role in minimizing Australia’s first-innings lead and keeping India within reach. He followed this with a sensational performance in Brisbane, where his six wickets in the first innings dismantled Australia’s batting line-up. Bumrah added three more wickets in the second innings to finish with a nine-wicket match haul, ensuring the rain-affected match ended in a draw and kept India’s hopes alive in the series.
In the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne, Bumrah delivered another stellar performance. He took four wickets in the first innings, providing a rare highlight in an otherwise underwhelming bowling effort by India. Bumrah then claimed a five-wicket haul in the second innings, bowling Australia out for 234. Despite his heroics, India’s batting faltered, and the team suffered a 184-run defeat.
