Islamabad, September 7, 2024 -Sub-News has acquired a copy of Umar Ayub Khan’s resignation from his position as Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The Leader of Opposition in National Assembly submitted his resignation to the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him. Ayub noted that he had initially resigned on June 22 but appreciated being renominated for the role.
“I have learned immensely from the PTI leadership during my two-year tenure as Secretary General,” Ayub said, extending thanks to Barrister Gohar and Shibli Faraz for their support. However, he stated, “I feel I can no longer do justice to the responsibilities of this position.”
Ayub confirmed he will continue to serve as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and believes that a new appointee could further improve the party’s structure. He reaffirmed his loyalty to PTI, stating, “Although I am stepping down as Secretary General, I will continue to serve as a committed party worker.”
